this infamous Alien Autopsy FOotage was actually purported to be the dissection of an alien being, supposedly recovered and analyzed by the U.S.A. military near Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. the actual story is that Ray Santilli, who was a pirate vhs and film dealer, went to the usa to find Elvis memorabilia to sell on the london blackmarket. a former U.S.a. Army cameraman, sells him a silent black and white film of Elvis performing live, but later returns with a very intriguing offer to see a film from 1947 showing the autopsy of an alien supposedly killed in a UFO crash in Roswell, New Mexico. the cameraman wants $30,000 for the film. Ray returns to uk to look for an investor to give them the money. A psychotic Hungarian drug dealer, Laszlo Voros, who is obsessed with crop circles, gives Ray the $30,000. However, in the interim, the film has "eaten itself" (i.e. degraded from humidity and heat) and is now completely unwatchable, so now Santilli decides to film a"remake" of the movie in order to satisfy the crazed Voros that the money is not lost. Based on Ray's memories of the original footage, and with the help of some friends, plus a very convincing replica of the alien made of a mannequin and meat products from a friend's butcher shop, they remake the autopsy film. using a supposed 'Bell and Howell' spring-wound camera that does not record sound, and turning the living room of a home into a movie set in the process. The film ends with the now restored original 1947 film, which Ray had left in the hands of film restoration experts in the hope that the footage could somehow be recovered, being returned to them - some sections had been repaired and were now watchable. After viewing the film, Ray however buries it - realizing releasing a second version would only compound the international fury ... the most interesting part however is santilli states he wove into the 'remake footage' the only elements of 'real footage' that were still usable from the reel at the time and these moments capture an odd blurry corpse being moved about an army compound.

The Documentaries and feature film excerpts of real footage
Spyros Melaris is where the story continues down the dirty track of infamy. Melaris says that he met Santilli in 1995 and was shown a copy of the original film that was clearly shot on VHS . Melaris saw that Santilli was visibly shaken at the poor quality and pitched an idea to remake the footage. Being a bit of a magician and film buff Melaris sunk his teeth into the project and almost did the entire thing for Santilli, not once but twice, as the first shoot did not meet to the high medical grade of Autopsy they were after. Melaris has storyboard artwork, drawings of design pitches and claims vast ufo craft creations and camera department elements were all his work. Due to a Contract that was binding Melaris never saw any money other than the £10,000 that was spent on production. When years later Santilli mentioned the 2005 film to Melaris, he asked would it be from the truthful account of the original footage being faked, and Santilli replied no, they were going with the 'spin' of it being real footage ... It has to be noted that Melaris has noone witnessing his account of the story and Santilli blew off his claims as "He was simply bought in later when editing work was required ... This is all nonsense and untrue. Simply an attempt to make a few pennies!!"
