TODAY ROCKET SCIENTISTS ARE SEEN AS THE PARAGONS OF SCIENCE GENIUS, BUT IN THE 1930'S THEY WERE LITTLE MORE THAN A FRINGE SECT CULT. THIS IS THE INCREDIBLY STRANGE CASE OF JACK PARSONS AND THE OCCULT SOCIETY INVOLVEMENT IN AMERICAN ROCKETRY.

Marvel 'John' Whiteside Parsons (October 2, 1914 – June 17, 1952), better known as Jack Parsons, was an American Rocket Engineer, Chemist and Themelite Occultist. Associated with the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), he was the inventor of the castable, composite solid fuel rocket and was one of the principal founders of both the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and the Aerojet Engineering Corporation. Parsons was born a child of wealth and privilege in Los Angeles to a broken marriage.
Over his short but incredible life, Parsons was a bit of a creative genius in two key areas — the occult and rocket science. Parsons 'legitimate' claim to fame was in the latter field. He was by all accounts a brilliant chemist, who made major breakthroughs in designing the chemical composition of liquid rocket fuels with no University education qualifications or credentials. Parsons' fuel mixtures eventually helped America into the Space race and achieved remote voyages to the Moon... Wernher von Braun even claimed once that Parsons and Goddard were the true fathers of the American space program. Parsons helped create GALCIT or more commonly known as the famous 'Jet Propulsion Laboratory' in Pasadena, the 'JPL', also affectionately called the "Jack Parsons Lab".
Parsons was certainly ahead of his time. Before each test launch, he was in the habit of invoking Aleister Crowley's Hymn to Pan, the wild horned god of fertility. Parsons had always been interested in occultism from youth, but his path to notoriety really started when Parsons threw himself into the Eastern-inspired mysticism and hormonally inspired sex magick of Thelema. Parsons was an immediate success. Parsons joined the Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.) in 1941, the same year as his most successful scientific achievement, Jet Assisted Take-Off (JATO). He was very much the young lion of the occult Order and, under the tutelage of Aleister Crowley, briefly served as the acting master of Agape Lodge. Parsons also started to have a sexual relationship with his wife Helen Northrop's 17-year-old sister Sara (aka Betty) something that was encouraged by his occult church after his wife started a relationship with one of the church's most senior members, Talbot Smith and got pregnant. The four of them, along with other Thelemites ended up moving into a large house together in Pasadena. Drugs flowed freely, as did sexual partners. The lodge attracted negative attention, with the police and FBI receiving allegations that it played host to a cult involved in sexual orgies and black magic, although upon investigation, it was deemed not to represent a threat to national security.
Crowley and his associates spoke of him as an inspired protege and potential successor to the Great Beast himself and in private letters Parsons addressed Crowley as "Most Beloved Father". One of Parsons' fellow occultists in the OTO was a young L. Ron Hubbard. They shared an obsession for the occult, sex magic and women. One of their big projects was the notorious 'Babalon Working'. The ritual was supposedly intended to create a 'new age' of 'free love' by shattering the confines of four-dimensional space time thru an 'elemental' woman who would give birth to a 'moonchild'. In the next few years, while Hubbard shot to fame with his book Dianetics, the core of Scientologist beliefs, Hubbard had moved in with Sara, after a group ritual of Sex Magick to raise an 'Elemental' woman for Parsons to move on with and create a 'moonchild', Parsons then miraculously encountered his Muse, Marjorie Cameron who shared his adventures in sex magick and rocketry, Cameron had no idea that she had been "invoked" in this way. She became his Wife and was the subject of a book of poetry Parsons wrote at the time. No 'moonchild' came from the whirlwind romance however and one out-of-body experience after another, delving deeper into the occult and decent into drugs, he took on the name “Belarion Armiluss al-Dajjal, Antichrist”.
The 'Working' "sex magick" had reset the course of Parsons’ life, ending his relationship with Aleister Crowley and the O.T.O. who dismissed him as insane. In his surviving essays and polemical writings, Parsons anticipated by many years the ethical, moral, religious and social dilemmas of the future. Parsons was on the out and his military clearances were revoked. His occult party life did his business life no favors either. Parsons' financial fortune fell apart after he invested his life savings into co-founding a company with Hubbard and Sara. Hubbard convinced Parsons he was going to buy yachts and resell them at a profit, but this never happened. Parsons lost the vast majority of his money in the scam, the company fell apart and eventually Hubbard and Sara went on to found Scientology together. Parsons, after having sold all shares in his company JPL, was now virtually penniless, working on small projects and writing books.
The US government heard that Nazi Germany was developing the V-2 rocket and so gave the GALCIT rocket research group (now without Parsons) a grant to develop rocket-based weapons and the group was renamed the Jet Propulsion Laboratory after Parsons conception name. At around that same time Parsons was expelled from Aerojet, by new majority shareholders who disapproved of his "unorthodox and unsafe working methods" or in other words his extra curricular occult activities were becoming common knowledge... Parsons and lifelong partner Ed Forman moved onto found the Ad Astra Engineering Company, their motto, 'ad astra per aspera', meant "through rough ways to the stars".
He ended up applying his skills to create pyrotechnics and explosives for the film industry. Just before a planned trip to Mexico in 1952, Parsons received a large order of explosives for a movie. While preparing the order, there was an explosion involving mercury in which Parsons suffered fatal wounds. Parsons died at the age of 37 from injuries, his right forearm was amputated, his legs and left arm were broken and a hole was torn in the right side of his face. Despite these critical injuries, Parsons was found conscious and groaning in pain by the upstairs lodgers. He tried to communicate with arriving emergency service personnel, who rushed him to the Huntingdon Memorial Hospital, where he was declared dead around thirty-seven minutes after the explosion, an explosion most accurately defined as "mysterious" ... Various theories suggest that the explosion was the result of old grudges by his enemies, a sinister plot by the FBI, a magical experiment gone bad, or simply the fact that his garage was filled with lots of explosive chemicals. Whatever actually caused Parsons' death, and whether there was any public distortion of the truth or not, in regard to what happened 'next' there has been no dispute. His mother, Ruth Virginia Parsons, after hearing the tragic news, committed suicide with an overdose of sleeping tablets, in front of a frightened, crippled friend who could not move to help her.
Parsons left behind numerous patents for liquid and solid rocket fuel. In his honor, a crater on the 'dark side' of the moon was named after him. Documents recently released through the Freedom of Information act make up 130 pages of heavily redacted text in which G-Men try to make sense of Parsons' religious beliefs and document his frequently careless handling of classified materials.
Side note for fans of coincidence: Jack Parsons’ magickal name was " Brother 210", referring to the numerological value of his magickal motto “Thelema Obtentum Procedero Amoris Nuptiae;” the freeway that runs past his old home on Orange Grove Avenue, (now an apartment complex), past JPL and out to the area where he and fellow scientists tested their rockets is the '210'/Foothill Freeway. Construction on the '210' began in 1958, six years after Parsons’ death!!!

MARJORIE CAMERON PARSONS
Marjorie Cameron Parsons Kimmel (April 23, 1922 – June 24, 1995), known simply as Cameron after her time in the Military, was an artist, poet, actress, sex magick occultist, and wife of rocket pioneer Jack Parsons.
Cameron and Jack were 'fated' to meet ...
Parsons' was between women and declared during a two day "sex magick" ritual that; "She will come girt with the sword of freedom, and before her kings and priests will tremble and cities and empires will fall, and she will be called BABALON, the scarlet woman .... And women will respond to her war cry, and throw off their shackles and chains, and men will respond to her challenge, forsaking the foolish ways and the little ways, and she will shine as the ruddy evening star in the bloody sunset of Gotterdamerung, will shine as a morning star when the night has passed, and a new dawn breaks over the garden of Pan" ... the ritual was performed by Parsons and ex-girlfriend Sara (aka Betty) Northrop with her now new boyfriend L Ron Hubbard. Hubbard assisted Parsons as a 'scribe' during alot of “sex magick” ceremonies, however this particular ritual requested the 'Goddess of Babalon' or 'Whore of Babylon' to invoke the creation of an “Elemental” with whom Parsons could conceive a “Moonchild” to usher in a 'new age' Messiah. The ceremony involved anointing objects with menstrual blood, invoking spells and incantations, and Parsons’ act of masturbating using his “magic wand”to seed the "Elemental" conjuring spell. Miraculously the “Elemental” arrived soon after in the form of a voluptuous redhead muse who was traveling by, an earthly incarnation of the Thelemite goddess Babalon. To Parsons, meeting Cameron was purely from the result of invoking the series of "sex magick" rituals called the 'Babalon Working'. "I have my elemental! ... She has red hair and slant green eyes as specified." Parsons wrote in his diary. To their sorrow no "Moonchild" was ever conceived from their passionate but rocky marriage.
Worse still after Jack Parsons early death at age 37, Cameron slid into depression, she began performing blood rituals in which she cut her own wrist, in the hope of communicating with Parsons' spirit, the Dark Angel. As part of these rituals, she claimed to have received a new magical identity, Hilarion. When she learned that a UFO had been seen over Washington D.C.'s capitol building she considered it a response to Parsons' death. After two months, she returned to California, where she committed a failed suicide attempt. Increasingly interested in occultism, she read through her late husband's papers, coming to understand the purpose of his 'Babalon Working' and furthermore believing that the spirit of 'Babalon' had been incarnated into herself. She came to believe that Parsons had been murdered, and continued her attempts at astral projection to commune with him. Her mental stability was deteriorating, and she became convinced that nuclear tests would result in the destruction of the Californian coast. Though unproven, there is evidence that she was institutionalized in a psychiatric ward at this period, before having a brief affair with African-American jazz player Leroy Booth, an interracial relationship that was illegal at the time.
Cameron and her magical aura were influential to artists Wallace Berman and George Herms, both of whom she met in the early 1950s. Her whimsical and sometimes disturbing works depict ethereal metamorphoses and transformations. Cameron is now regarded as a counter cultural icon and key figure in the development of postwar Los Angeles art and also who would later emerge as an iconic star of sex occult-oriented films by experimental filmmaker Kenneth Anger.

ROBERT GODDARD
Robert Hutchings Goddard(October 5, 1882 – August 10, 1945) was the early US Rocket Pioneer. In 1932, whilst still in high school, Jack Parsons entered into written correspondence with Robert Goddard, Herman Oberth, and Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, but later commented that due to the state of the art at the time, nothing of any real value could be gleaned from the correspondences, so the letter writing ceased. Goddard however remained close and was a work-colleague of, and even almost a father-figure to Jack Parsons over the early years. Goddard once said that Jack Parsons, not himself, was the real father of American rocketry.
Goddard’s greatest engineering contributions however were made during his work in the 1920s and 1930s. Robert Goddard was lampooned by the press and ignored by scientists when he published what is now regarded as one of the field’s foundational texts: A Method of Reaching Extreme Altitudes. Finally he received a total of $10,000 from the Smithsonian by 1927, and through the personal efforts of famed American aviator Charles A. Lindbergh, he subsequently received financial support from the Daniel and Florence Guggenheim Foundation, which financed his research in New Mexico. Roswell was a site for much of Robert Goddard's early rocketry work. (The Roswell Museum & Art Center maintains an exhibit which includes a recreation of Goddard’s rocketry development workshop.) As a location of military importance from 1941 to 1967, Goddard spent a dozen years near Roswell, New Mexico, with the support of the Guggenheim Foundation, further developing and testing his rocket designs.
While Goddard’s rocket work made little impression on American government officials of the 1920s and 1930s, German rocket scientists paid close attention: Goddard’s research largely anticipated in technical detail the later German V-2 missiles, including gyroscopic control, steering by means of vanes in the jet stream of the rocket motor, gimbal-steering, power-driven fuel pumps and other devices. Indeed, Goddard inspected several captured V-2′s in 1945, confirming that the Germans had used his designs. Werner Von Braun always recognized the value of the work of American rocket pioneer Robert H. Goddard. “Until 1936,” said Braun, “Goddard was ahead of us all.” Goddard died in 1945 from throat cancer.

THEODORE VON KARMAN
Theodore von Kármán (born May 11, 1881, Budapest, Hung.—died May 6, 1963, Aachen, W.Ger.), was a Hungarian-American engineer and physicist active primarily in the fields of aeronautics and astronautics, and responsible for numerous important advances in aerodynamics, notably his work on the characterization of supersonic and hypersonic airflow. Concerned about the rise in fascism and Nazism in Europe, von Kármán accepted in 1930 the directorship of the Guggenheim Aeronautical Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology, he emigrated to live in the United States and in 1936 founded Aerojet with Frank Malina and Jack Parsons. Nazi developments in rocketry during the Second World War encouraged the U.S. military to look into the potential use of rockets in warfare, a matter in which von Kármán played a significant role. For example, during the early part of 1943, the Experimental Engineering Division of the United States Army Air Forces Materiel Command worked closely with von Kármán on the status of Germany’s rocket program.
In 1946, after the hostilities were over and Hitler's Third Reich was fully defeated, von Kármán became the first chairman of the Scientific Advisory Group, which studied aeronautical technologies for the United States Army Air Forces. He also helped found AGARD, the NATO aerodynamics research oversight group, the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences, the International Academy of Astronautics, and the Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics in Brussels.
At the age of 81, von Kármán received the first National Medal of Science, bestowed in a White House ceremony by President John F. Kennedy. He was recognized specifically for "…his leadership in the science and engineering basic to aeronautics; for his effective teaching and related contributions in many fields of mechanics, for his distinguished counsel to the Armed Services, and for his promoting international cooperation in science and engineering."
Perhaps most startling of all, is however that von Kármán claimed until his dying day that an ancestor of his, one Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel of Prague, had succeeded in creating a Golem, an artificial human being endowed with life, according to Hebrew folklore. Parsons explored the Alchemical theories of John Dees and Isaac Newton and is said to have tried to create a Golem himself in his 'Babalon Working' "sex magick" spell to conjure the "Elemental" who appeared to him as Marjorie Cameron.
Von Kármán passed away on a trip to Aachen in 1963, and is buried in Pasadena, California.

THE COLLINS ELITE

UFO researcher Nick Redfern researched into a secret group within the U.S. government known as the Collins Elite, who believe the alien visitors are actually deceptive sexual demonic entities masquerading as ETs. The Collins Elite took its inspiration from occultist Aleister Crowley’s ritual in which he reportedly made contact with an inter-dimensional entity named Lam. Later, in the 1940s, rocket scientist Jack Parsons engaged in similar"Sex Magic", trying to invoke an 'Elemental' being, and subsequent UFO sightings may have been enabled through this opening of a portal or gateway into the Demonic Dimension. The Collins Elite eventually came to the conclusion…that the human soul during "sex magic" orgasm possesses something like a circle of electricity .... a magnetic energy - 'Orgone Energy' as was described by Wilhelm Reich. Which the Demon entities can harvest, thus the Aliens appear to have sexual interests in breeding. The group naively also believed that a strong religious viewpoint, such as Christian fundamentalism could keep the Demonic entities at bay.....
Is it possible that some equally strange form of diabolical alchemy was at work to create not just the so-called memory-metal that a number of players in the Roswell saga described seeing, but also to generate a type of extraterrestrial ectoplasmic form, a creature that looks real and that exhibits prime evidence of DNA, flesh, bone, and skin, but that is, in reality, nothing more than a brilliant piece of magick, a Homunculus?
Possible or not, this is most certainly what the Collins Elite came to accept as gospel.
But, what's interesting about all this - regardless of the fact that it's certainly the most controversial theory ever offered for what happened on the Roswell Foster Ranch - is that this issue of manufactured life-forms has a connection to Jack Parsons, who the Collins Elite concluded played a leading role in ushering in the 1947 Flying Saucer wave with his Rocket Alchemy and occult "sex magick" activities. Read the Nick Redfern book for more details.
